Welcome to the teaching profession! Whether you’re a newly-qualified or just re-starting your teaching career, there’s no doubt that the journey ahead will be a rewarding one. Here are some tips to help you get started and to make sure you are best prepared for the upcoming school year.

First, get organised. Now is the time to make sure you have everything ready - from lesson plans and material to your personal schedule and resources. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If there’s something you’re not sure about, reach out to your mentors or colleagues and make sure you have all the information you need.

Second, make sure you know the curriculum in and out. You’ll need a good understanding of the expectations of your curriculum so you can plan successful lessons for your students. Get an early start by familiarising yourself with the material and by researching best practices for teaching it.

Third, set yourself up for success. One of the most important things you can do is create an environment in which your students feel comfortable and free to learn. Start by getting to know your students and try to understand their individual needs. This will help you create a positive and welcoming learning space.

Fourth, have fun! Teaching can be a fun and exciting job. As you embark on this journey, take time to enjoy the experience and make the most of each day. Find ways to make teaching engaging and embrace your role as a leader and role model for your students.

And lastly, remember that you’re not alone. Reach out to other teachers for advice and support. Teaching can be both challenging and rewarding, so make sure to take time to step back and reflect on your progress. There will be ups and downs but by staying positive and asking for help when needed, you can make a difference in the lives of your students.

Good luck and best wishes on this educational journey!
